The Characters

Marty

Martin Wallace The Third believes himself to be a self-made success story, a rags-to-riches tale of bringing himself up out of the South side of Chicago by his own bootstraps to get a plush executive job on the North side. He also thinks his late father was a simple stage magician who died when one of his magic tricks backfired. How would Marty handle it if he found out that all of that was a lie?

Ana

Ana Romanov is a mysterious Tomb Raider with a hidden past and a dubious connection to Marty. She was hired by someone to find a magical artifact hidden somewhere in the south side of Chicago. What is her true agenda, and why is it so important to her to get Marty involved? And while we’re at it, is Ana even her real name?

Julius

Julius Colston is Marty’s best friend, and the leader of The Cabal, the clique of close friends he and Marty have been a part of since their college days. He lives a high class, womanizing playboy lifestyle in a high-rise suite on the North side of Chicago. When Marty comes to him for help, how willing is he to get involved, and what kind of help could he provide?

Rurik

Professor Rurik Zlovenchy is Marty’s favorite teacher from his days at Chicago University. He even helped him pass a massive exam that would ultimately determine his future career. But is there something more nefarious behind his helping Marty? What does he know about Ana’s father? And what is he involved in when he isn’t teaching?

Alonzo

Alonzo Haaj Arraf is the head minister in a secret society called The Nation. Few people know of The Nation, how many are in its numbers, nor how they operate. But Marty’s father knew, and his relationship with them was crucial to the legacy he left behind for Marty. What is Marty’s connection to them, and why are they taking such an interest in the magic artifact Ana is searching for?
